GAYla was GRAND!

The 2008 Spring GAYla (Under the Sea: Finding Homo) was fabulous!!

We had amazing food, yummy drink specials, a nice silent auction, some glorious door prizes, and a truly wonderful “one queen” show hosted by an amazing mistress of ceremonies.

We appreciate all who were able to volunteer, donate, attend, and otherwise support our event.

We’ll have/post totals soon!

GAYla - Saturday - 7pm

Have you ever wanted to replace your drab, dryland wardrobe with Ariel’s aquamarine scales or Nemo’s orange, black, and white stripes? Or maybe you’ve wanted to trade your winter scarf and gloves for Davy Jones’ claw and tentacles.

If so, then and come to downtown this Saturday for Brazos Valley QueSt’s 5th annual Spring GAYla,
UNDER THE SEA - FINDING HOMO.

Halo Bar will be magically transformed into a colorful reef for BV QueSt’s annual fundraiser for Aggie Allies and OUTreach Grants. With a silent auction, outstanding homemade treats, fantastic music, dancing, and performances by our finest entertainers, Spring GAYla is the premiere spring fundraising event for the queer and queer-supportive community of the Brazos Valley. And it’s tax deductible, too, because BV QueSt is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization!

BV QueSt raises $3000 with “Mobsters & Molls”

Brazos Valley QueSt is proud to unveil the funds raised at the 2007 Spring GAYla: Mobsters & Molls.

$ 3,000 in net proceeds from the event will be used to support Aggie ALLIES and the BV QueSt OUTreach grant.

  • $ 1,200 will go to Aggie ALLIES, a safe-zone program at Texas A&M Univeristy has over 650 members across the campus. We are proud to support this wonderful program and the education it provides to its members.
  • $ 1,800 will be put into the OUTreach grant fund. Throughout the year, BV QueSt will give grants to qualifying local groups providing queer/ally programming. We are excited at the chance to sponsor a wide variety of programs and help groups bring in bigger speakers and other unique programs.

Thank you to all who were able to attend. It was a fun and lively crowd, with many guests in costume. We were thrilled to see so many flappers and gangsters and molls. Keep checking the website; we’ll post pictures as we get permission from folks!

As always, BV QueSt is seeking volunteers. We have specific needs in the areas of Finances and Information. If you are interested or would like more information, email

Thank You

Brazos Valley QueSt would like to thank everyone who came to the Spring GAYla: Mobsters & Molls last weekend. It was a wonderfully fun event thanks to a large turnout including guests who really got into the theme and arrived in costume. Thank you all for making the event successful. We are still crunching numbers and will publish totals shortly after Spring Break. We are confident we’ll have both a nice donation for Aggie ALLIES and a nice contribution to the OUTreach grant.
Thank you, again, to the Sponsors listed below for making the event such a huge financial success.

As always, if you were unable to attend but would still like to make a contribution to the event/cause, you can visit our website for more information and/or to donate online.

Finally, we’d like to make a picture call. If you have photos from the event, we’d love them for our archive. Don’t worry, we won’t post any on the web without first obtaining permission from those in the photo.

Once again, thank you all!!!

BV QueSt Events

Brazos Valley QueSt typically coordinates two fundraising events per year.

  • The annual Fall Homecoming is held mid-October, on the Saturday of/after National Coming Out Day (October 11th) and welcomes Aggies, former students, and former residents back to Aggieland to reunite and raise money for a queer/ally scholarship fund.
  • The annual Spring GAYla is an exciting themed fundraiser and celebration. Proceeds from GAYla go to support Aggie ALLIES and the BV QueSt OUTreach Grant, which are available for local queer and queer-supportive organizations.
